i'm able to have really silly conversations with people now, completely in chinese, but involving a huge amount of gestures and probably really awful grammar.

much has happened since. been to �� (lijiang) for a few days. wandered up elephant hill, around ��ų� (the old town), up to the pagoda, lost my "ren" hat, learned how to say hat, asked some people if they found my hat, got my hat back, met this cool guy named doug, went up the tiger leaping gorge, gave some of my first aid supplies to a girl that had sliced her finger at sean's guesthouse (one of his daughters), went to ��ˮ̨ (baishuitai), wandered up the mountain, wandered into baishuitai, tried to go to �е� (zhongdian) also known as �ϸ���- (shanggeli-la), had to turn around due to too much ice on the road, got invited by these 3 12yo ���� (naxi) girls to visit their home (after they taught me some chinese), met a girl going to ��ѧ (university) in %�� (kunming), went today almost back to lijiang, past the first bend of the yangtze river, and back up to zhongdian for a lot of money and ate some ������ (some kind of noodle soup) and ˮ�� (wonton).
and now i've found this ����(?) (computer) where I'm freezing my fingers off.
